About Valencia Marathon

The Valencia Marathon is an annual road race in Valencia, Spain, run every year since 1981. World Athletics rates it as a Platinum Label road race. The course forms roughly a loop, starting at the Pont de Montolivet and finishing beside the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe.

The Valencian sports club S.D. Correcaminos organises the race with institutional backing from Valencia City Council. The same club also stages the Valencia Half Marathon.

The 2026 edition is confirmed for 6 December, in Valencia in the Valencian Community. Entry is expected to be handled online. Spaces for 2026 were shared out through a loyalty period and then a ballot, and are reported to be full, though a waiting list is available. This access information is still an estimate.

What happens

The marathon is an urban road race over 42,195 metres on an asphalt course. It is open to runners whether or not they hold a federation licence.

The organisers plan to start the race in 9 waves, grouped by runners' accredited times, with the aim of improving comfort and safety.

History and meaning

In 2020 the pandemic led the organiser to cancel the mass in-person race. That 40th edition went ahead for elite runners only and also featured a half marathon.

Through its 'Valencia corre X Valencia' campaign, the marathon raised over €1,000,000 to help athletics clubs and rebuild sports facilities damaged by the October 2024 floods in Valencia province.

What to expect

Kilometre points along the course are marked with signposts. Medical services are placed along the route and in the start and finish area.

Drink stations are spread along the course at about 10 points, and a final station at the finish offers both food and drink.

Practical tips

When picking up your bib at the Expo 42K, use the dedicated stand there to check that your timing chip works.

Live tracking runs through the official race app. Between sensors it estimates a runner's position from average speed, so the location shown may be imprecise.
