How we rank
Events are ordered by plain rules that are written down here. Nobody can pay for a better place, and commission plays no part in any order.
Recommended
“Recommended” is the order Discover and the lists start in. It uses four things, in this order.
- 1. When you search, the events whose name matches your words best come first: a whole name, then the start of a name, then a name with a small typing slip, then matches on place words.
- 2. Upcoming events before past events and events with no date.
- 3. Events with a confirmed date before events whose dates are still to be confirmed.
- 4. Then our browse order, which we set. There is no score for how good an event is: when the first three are equal, the browse order decides.
The other orders
You can switch Discover to any of these.
- Soonest
- Upcoming events by their start date, then past events. Events with no date come last.
- Next deadline
- By the next ticket moment from today: such as a sale opening or a deadline. Events with none come last. This is the starting order while “Opening soon” is on.
- Lowest price
- From the lowest price up. Events with no price come last.
Lists and rails
A hub gathers the events of one category, series, theme or place. The rails on the home page take their events from a hub.
“Opening soon” shows the events with a ticket moment in the next 30 days.
Ways to go
On an event page, “Ways to go” lists the ways to get in and get there, in this order.
- 1. The organiser’s own routes, such as the ballot, the tickets or the registration, each with a link to the official site.
- 2. Offers from partners, when there are any: those still on sale first, then from the lowest all-in price up, then in a fixed order. Never by commission.
- 3. Flight and stay searches come last: flights to the nearest airport and stays in the event’s place.
Paid links
A link that can earn us a commission says “Paid link” right next to it. It opens the partner’s site in a new tab, and your price doesn’t change.
A paid link passes through a short hand-off on our own site, which records which link it was, where on the page, the page’s language and the time. That record holds nothing about you: no internet address, no cookie, no account. We keep it for 13 months.
A flight or stay search opens the partner’s own search with the event’s nearest airport or place, the dates shown beside the link and two adults, and you can change all of them there. When we know only the month or the season, it opens without dates. A search we earn nothing from says “No commission” instead of “Paid link”.
Money
Nobody pays to be listed or to rank higher. If a booking link ever earns us commission, it says so next to the link, and the commission still plays no part in any order.
