About RHS Chelsea Flower Show
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is run by the Royal Horticultural Society. It exists purely to raise funds for the RHS, a registered charity, and its proceeds go towards the charity's aims.
The 2027 edition is confirmed for 18 to 22 May in London, England. Entry is by ticket, although the access details are still an estimate rather than confirmed.
Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 May are expected to be RHS members' days, with public days from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 May. Ticket sales were listed as opening on 19 October 2026 for members, with public sales following on 21 October.
What happens
The show's garden categories include Show Gardens, All About Plants Gardens, and Balcony and Container Gardens.
Nurseries and growers from across the world exhibit in the Great Pavilion. It also houses GreenSTEM exhibits, which look at where horticulture meets science, technology and the environment.
RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year honours exceptional new plants. Expert horticulturists vote for a favourite, and the plants in contention are displayed in the Great Pavilion. The RHS Chelsea Late is an evening session with a tour of the show at dusk, followed by a DJ on the Main Stage.
History and meaning
The show has been held at Chelsea since 1912.
It was formerly known as the Great Spring Show, which the RHS first held in 1862.
What to expect
Visitors are greeted at the entrance gates by floral displays, and the RHS Letters are a popular backdrop for photographs.
Show Gardens line Main Avenue and Royal Hospital Way; the organisers say they reflect current gardening trends and key issues in horticulture. The Balcony and Container Gardens sit in wooded Ranelagh Gardens, where designers tackle urban gardening problems such as flooding, pollution and noise.
Bands, choirs and orchestras are among the musical acts on The Stage in Ranelagh Gardens. Trade stands sell gifts, clothes and tools, and visitors can talk directly to the sellers.
