About Jazz à Vienne
Jazz à Vienne is a jazz festival in Vienne whose evening concerts take place in the town's ancient Roman theatre, the Théâtre Antique.
The 2027 edition is confirmed for 25 June to 10 July 2027, in Vienne, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The date rule is only an estimate, with June as the usual month, so it is worth checking dates with the organiser each year.
Attendance is expected to combine ticketed concerts at the Théâtre Antique, available as individual tickets, packs and passes, with free concerts. The box office for 2027 is reported to be open already, though these access details are still an estimate and worth checking with the organiser.
What happens
During the festival, the François Ponsard Italian-style theatre becomes a Club, where local, national and international artists play each night. It is presented as a chance to discover contemporary jazz.
The 2026 edition, the 45th, was described by the organisers as 167 concerts across 17 days, including 5 original creations. That edition also marked the centenary of Miles Davis's birth, with a tribute to a musician the organisers call one of music history's most influential figures.
Jazz à Vienne is not only a summer event. The organisation has spent 13 years coordinating the region's International Jazz Day programme, hosted in venues such as bars, museums, concert halls and cinemas.
History and meaning
Performers over the years have included Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Michel Petrucciani and Herbie Hancock. Hancock has played in Vienne more than a dozen times.
What to expect
The Club venue has good acoustics and puts the audience close to the performers.
